They’re alive!

Well, after 90 days of waiting, our turtle eggs are hatching at this moment!. But.we must confess, these eggs are hatching in our garage. When we first opened the nest to see the eggs, we took 10 of them to incubate at home. Knowing there is a high mortality rate, we thought these would have a better chance of survival, and so far, 8 are on their way! Their shells are about an inch long and it’s hard to believe that these little creatures could grow to well over a foot. We don’t know if the natural nest is hatching because we’re downstate this week, but we could be back up over Labor Day weekend. We’ll be letting our “gang”go as soon as we get back to Kaleva.
