July also brings the National Cherry Festival, and for wine and food lovers, a must-attend is Cherries D’Vine on July 4. Regional, award-winning wines are paired with culinary creations featuring the region’s most divine agriculture: cherries and grapes. (We’re told you’ll have an excellent view of the air show featuring the always-thrilling U.S. Navy Blue Angels.)
Not so keen on big crowds? Perhaps a small gathering with friends is more your thing? Stop by Left Foot Charley in the urban Village of Grand Traverse Commons to fill a one liter growler up with wine or hard apple cider, when available, for your gang to share on your outdoor patio — or their patio. Winemaker Bryan Ulbrich shares that it is not uncommon to see a “Friday growler parade,” as customers file in to fill up growlers with whatever loose wine is available. It’s stellar wine made in small batches.
Regardless of whether you prefer the crowds of cherry fest or a more intimate setting with long-time friends, getting your hands on some local wine is super easy. Think local wine every time.
