If you didn’t catch the blog I wrote last month when I was working on the France Vs. Italy story for the April issue of Traverse, here’s a re-run. Such a delicious story to work on! I have the assignment of all assignments for the April issue of Traverse, Northern Michigan’s Magazine: a story on the annual France v. Italy dinner at Stella’s in Traverse City. The dinner, scheduled for Thursday, April 19 this year, pits the cooking skills of Stella’s chef Myles Anton against those of Guillaume Massieux, chef/owner of La Becasse in Maple City, in a fabulous, friendly competition. Last April I had the honor of attending the dinner, you know, just to do research … that involved course after course of the most exquisite food and wine I believe I’ve ever tasted. Yesterday (more research!), I went to the preamble of this year’s dinner, a brunch hosted by Paul and Amanda Danielson (owners of Stella’s) for the the Massieux and Anton families. Each of the three families has two beautiful daughters, so it’s easy to imagine, what with little girls, dogs and great food and wine, what a deliciously familial scene it was. I love this shot that Traverse photographer Angela Brown snapped of the three foodie dads and their daughters. More to come on this story!
