The snowflakes were most excellent this day.
Saturday was a perfect winter day in Northern Michigan. My wife took advantage of it and announced an Instant Plan. “We’re snowshoeing to Good Harbor beach,” she said. And it was so. Suit up, snowshoes in the car. Go. At the trailhead in a few minutes for a wonderful Leelanau County walk to Lake Michigan, in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Check out the pix. (And more important: Let them inspire you to your own instant plan in the snow!)
Not a warm beach, but a beautiful beach.
Pilings from an 1800s steamer dock capped with ice.
Lake Michigan’s icy, craggy shore.
The snowshoe path home, under a twisty tree.
All in all, a great instant plan outing. —Jeff Smith, editor
