On the Pyramid Point trail in Glen Arbor there is a grove of birches that capture me with their subtle beauty in every season. I anticipate their presence each time I hike this trail. Of course the view from the top of the trail is why most people climb, but do they notice this more subtle scenery along the way? As the leaves have almost all fallen and we are coming to the end of autumn, the birch trees even without leaves are simply stunning.
Keep an appointment with a tree today.
I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines. ~Henry David Thoreau
