Bay Area Senior Advocates (B.A.S.A.) are proud to announce their 15th Annual Ideas for Life Senior Expo, held May 18th from 10 am – 3 pm at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center, in Traverse City, Michigan.
This year’s event will feature over 100 organizations offering products and services to help seniors and their families navigate aging successfully. The theme for this year’s event is “America the Beautiful” which is presented by Great Lakes Home Healthcare.
The 15th annual expo is hosted by the Bay Area Senior Advocates (B.A.S.A.), a group dedicated to the goals of education, advocacy, and collaboration on behalf of the needs of our aging community. Attendees can expect to find wellness screenings and giveaways, as well as the information from service providers. The expo is an engaging event for everyone, as creative exhibitors share product samples, interactive games and a Guest Celebrity Chef. In years past more than 1800 people have attended the expo.
This year, attendees can sample a variety of food offerings in a unique “Taste of Traverse” section of the event, provided by Tendercare Leelanau, Birchwood Health Center, Munson Home Health, Village at Bay Ridge and Lowe’s Home Improvement. And, every year, expo-goers must search the event to find a crowd-pleasing favorite, free ice cream. “The location changes each year,” says Rachel Krino, Media Coordinator. “It’s just one of those fun little things people look forward too. We have so many wonderful sponsors and exhibitors, and the event is always packed with valuable information for everyone. It’s a great day.”
All ages are invited to attend, as the expo features many local and statewide services available to older adults, their caregivers, friends and family. By hosting such a wide variety of exhibitors, the expo serves as a convenient and engaging way for people to learn about the range of programs and services available in our region.
“We know that when people realize what is important to help them live their lives to the fullest, they will not only be happier, but will live longer as a result. As advocates for older adults in our community, our goal is to assist in any way we can to help families and individuals gain the information they need to prepare for the future,” says Amy Northway, Monarch Home Health Services.
This event would not be possible without the many sponsors who have contributed. Thanks to them, admission to this event is free. The 2016 Presenting Sponsor is Great Lakes Home Healthcare.
