Festivities include guest artists and demonstrations. Refreshments are served. Five $100 gift certificates will be drawn from those visiting all four galleries and the sculpture park during the day.
For the first time, the Art Rapids sponsored Walk of Art Sculpture Park, in the Elk Rapids Day Park on South Bayshore Drive, joins the four Elk Rapids award winning galleries in an open house art walk from 10am-5pm. The Art Rapids organization created the Walk of Art Sculpture exhibit within this Park. Stop by and discover 17 sculptures, including a newly installed 60 foot long artistic banner by New York artist Molly Dillworth, all in the natural waterfront setting of the Park, and participate in hourly gift drawings.
Each Elk Rapids gallery is special, and all offer fine art, along with many affordable artist-made items.
Mullaly’s 128 Studio & Gallery, enjoying its 22st year representing excellence in fine art and craft, is located on River Street in downtown Elk Rapids. Mullaly’s offers the finest selection of high quality glass in Northern Michigan, and has been recognized as the finest jewelry gallery in the area. Oil painter Jill Swanson will be in the Gallery all day.
The Blue Heron Gallery, located east of Route 31 on Ames Street, showcases hundreds of Michigan artists with the largest collection of paintings in the area. Gallery owner Dan Reszka will be demonstrating with watercolors throughout the day. Other artists demonstrating include Jon Delos Reed with oils at 11am, Ron Musgrave with oils at noon, and Pat Flynn with watercolors at 1pm. In addition, Tom Dionne will be entertaining on the guitar at noon.
The Twisted Fish Gallery, South of Elk Rapids along Route 31, features many large paintings, and an outdoor sculpture garden. The Gallery will be holding an hourly gift certificate drawing throughout the day. Watercolor artist Betty Bea Washburn will be demonstrating from 10am-noon, Chuck Forman, who also specializes in watercolors, will be on hand from 10:30am-2pm, and miniature painting artist Gail Hayton will be demonstrating from noon-4pm.
StoneHedge Gallery and Studio, South of Elk Rapids along Route 31, the newest gallery in Elk Rapids, offers a wide selection of new and gently used art. The Gallery also features the Potter Shed behind the Gallery, which will be open with demonstrations by artist Matt Gonea, showing different types of pottery. In addition, Monica Cory will be in her “stone cottage” featuring her refurbished furniture and accessories.

Elk Rapids, on East Grand Traverse Bay and Elk Lake, is about 15 miles northeast of Traverse City on US-31.
