The Sea Shanty Workshop is led by musician and sailor, Tom Kastle, and is followed by an evening Tom Kastle Concert with maritime music and storytelling in the sea shanty tradition.
Come and share your interest in this entertaining folk art. You are welcome to participate in the workshop, come to the concert, or enjoy both events in the MHA boat shop that houses the Bill Livingston-built “Witchcraft,” currently undergoing a major restoration.
Tom Kastle is well known throughout the area for his singing and songwriting in the maritime tradition. He is a shanty and ballad singer and a tall ship captain.
Workshop 4pm; Concert 7pm. It takes place in the Edwin and Mary Brown Boat Shop (Bldg. 1).
Tickets: Workshop $10; Concert $10; Workshop and Concert $15; available at Maritime Heritage Alliance and Oryana Natural Foods Market. Proceeds from this event will contribute to Maritime Heritage Alliance’s major restoration work on the sloop, “Witchcraft.”
