Oleson’s Food Store in Petoskey is giving shoppers the opportunity to support the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan and their domestic abuse Safe Home during a ‘Dollar Drive’ taking place November 17 through 28. To encourage support, the Oleson’s Foundation is providing a $1000 match for the first $1000 raised. Shoppers contribute to the Dollar Drive when purchasing items from any of the cashiers.
Dollars raised will help purchase needed food and supplies for domestic abuse survivors and their children utilizing services at the Safe Home emergency shelter; because the Safe Home is operated 24/7, the need is constant. Last year more than 10,100 meals were provided to 119 survivors and their children, in addition to all their daily needs. Domestic abuse services through the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan are provided to survivors at no charge.
Lite 96.3FM will also host a non-perishable food drive to benefit survivors at the Safe Home which will take place at Oleson’s Petoskey store on US 31 North, from 3-5 p.m., Tuesday, November 26.
