Annual drive to collect non-perishable foods, paper products, cleaning supplies and personal items for use by survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and their children staying at the Safe Home, operated 24 hours a day and 365 days a year by the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM).
The WRCNM operates the domestic and sexual abuse emergency shelter for women and their children in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet and Otsego counties. The Safe Home Harvest Food and Supply Drive represents one of the most significant ways community members can help support battered women and their children in Northern Michigan. Last year the Safe Home provided 2,701 nights of refuge and more than 8,700 meals to 139 survivors and their children, as well as all their daily needs. For more information contact Jamie Winters, WRCNM Safe Home Coordinator, at 231-347-1572. Donations accepted at the WRCNM administrative office; agency satellite offices in Cheboygan, Boyne City, East Jordan, Gaylord and Mancelona; and both Gold Mine Resale Shops in Petoskey.
