“Surf & Murf,” a celebration of art inspired by water and stone, opens Aug. 2 at Cog’s Creek Gallery, 124 N. Maple, Traverse City. Work by painter Charles Murphy and jeweler Kimberly Bazemore is featured.
Murphy, a Traverse City resident, has created a series of beach scenes airbrushed onto handbuilt long boards. He’ll also exhibit new mixed media paintings that take a bird’s eye look at Leland’s Fishtown and other iconic, northern Michigan beachfronts. Bazemore, who has designed and built sterling silver jewelry around beach glass and beach stone for two decades, will show a new generation of contemporary metal adornments emphasizing these materials.
A reception to open to show is Aug. 2, 6-9 p.m. at the gallery. For more information call Cog’s Creek, 231/620-0458.
Gallery Hours: Mon.-Fri. 11am-6pm; Sat. 11am-4pm.
