TRAVERSE CITY — The U of M Club of Grand Traverse is hosting a Film Festival reception with University of Michigan student filmmakers and faculty from the University’s Department of Screen Arts and Culture on Thursday, August 1, beginning at 5pm at the Dennos Museum Center’s Janis Room. The reception is open to University of Michigan alumni, friends and film fans throughout the region. Visiting Michigan friends are also welcome. There is no charge to attend. The reception will feature appetizers and refreshments with a cash bar as well as film clips and an informal behind the scenes’ meet and mingle. Faculty and students will speak briefly about their work as well as their participation in the film festival with showing of UM Shorts and participation in film school earlier in the day. Guests are encouraged to drop in anytime during the reception from 5pm to 7pm. Parking is available in the NMC lots. The Dennos Museum Center is also on the film festival shuttle route.
Earlier on Thursday, the Film Festival will show “Shorts by UM Students” at noon at the City Opera House featuring the premiere of two works, “Open House” and “Fender Bender” followed by a Q&A with students and faculty. Tickets for the UM Shorts are $10 and available through the Traverse City Film Festival at www.traversecityfilmfestival.org.
