NCMC in Petoskey Offers Nursing and Allied Health Informations Sessions

Salvage/Selvage Exhibit

By dictionary definition: “Salvage is the saving and use of waste materials; Selvage is the fabric edging woven to prevent fraying.” In Salvage/Selvage, Members of the Fiber Artists Coalition combined these notions and embraced the challenge to create fiber artwork using “non-traditional” materials. Jin-won Chang was born in South Korea in 1967. He holds two MFAs – 1996 Chung Ang University, Seoul, Korea; 2006 SUNY New Paltz University, New Paltz, NY. Responding to three near death experiences in water, Jin-won Chang’s works on paper and sculptures of bamboo and paper are in response to those experiences, involving marine animals, vessels, and other water related imagery as subject matter for his work.

Coming to the United States in 1994, he attended and received his Bachelors of Fine Arts (in Ceramics and Sculpture) at the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford and his Masters of Fine Arts in Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy in Michigan. He will show his Lusting after Donuts project.
