"Seeds-Awesome Vessels of Power!" The 24th Annual Earth Day Parade theme is all about Seeds and their mighty and magnificent ability to transform into food; flowers; plants; trees! And the Soil--learn ways in which we can become better caretakers of our Earth-home.
The Grand Traverse Earth Day Parade is a storytelling parade, telling the story of the theme: "Seeds, Awesome Vessels of Power." With a lot of creative help, Little Artshram sub-divides the "story" into 4 or 5 elemental sections: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and a center section.
There are three rules to the Earth Day Parade, to ensure safety and simplicity:
No Words (as in signs advertising or protesting);
No Motors (except for wheelchairs);
No Pets (BIG puppets frighten real animals).
The Earth Day Parade line-up begins at Oryana at 11:30am. Look for motorized vehicle advice/parking and shuttle bus info to be posted. The parade begins it’s procession at 12:30pm, and ends back at Oryana.
Rain-out day is April 27.
