The Bard (Shakespeare) is set to the powerful, stirring music of great opera composer, Giuseppe Verdi, in a traditionally staged version of a story of love, betrayal and justice.
The area's only fully staged opera, this represents the culmination of over 8 solid weeks of students from all over the United States, teaming up with Bay View's creative and technical staff.
Falstaff is an operatic commedia lirica in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, adapted by Arrigo Boitofrom Shakespeare's plays The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes from Henry IV. It was Verdi's last opera, written in the composer's ninth decade, and only the second of his 28 operas to be a comedy. Falstaff has long been an admired favorite with critics and musicians because of its brilliant orchestration, scintillating libretto and refined melodic invention. It is in the standard repertoire of many opera companies.
