Event Description

The course that started a revolution in Traverse City this time last year is being offered again by NMC…   May 13th and 15th ….  from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Parsons/Stulen Bldg…room 226  Cost…$35 total for both classes.  To register call NMC 231-995-1700.
This course is taught by Linda Fletcher, Lieutenant Colonel, US Army Nurse Corps (retired).  LTC Fletcher has studied PTSD extensively over the past eight years and offers an interesting perspective on current treatment methodologies as well as historical perspectives and exciting potential options for the future.
Information regarding the causes and symptoms  of PTSD and the numbers of troops affected are presented, as are ideas regarding how we might improve the care provided for the veterans with invisible wounds. This includes exploration of a variety of treatment modalities that are in use worldwide.  It also addresses the need for education  of the American public to combat the PTSD epidemic and introduces the concept that it takes a nation to heal a warrior with invisible wounds
We, the people, can help and the importance of community involvement is emphasized.
