Join us for Michigan Reads! the One-State, One-Children's Book program presented by the Library of Michigan, Target and the Petoskey District Library. The featured book for 2009 is "The Pout-Pout Fish" by Michigan resident Deborah Diesen and illustrated by Dan Hanna. This book is being read to children all over the state during the months of September and October.
The book introduces a "pouty-mouthed" fish with a gloomy attitude: I'm a pout-pout fish/Witha pout-pout face,/So I spread the dreary-wearies/All over the place." Finally one friend turns this fish around. The book was a Time Magazine Top Ten Children's Book of 2008,and, according to Kirkus Reviews, "oozes personality." Plug the book in to Mr. Ron's Story Hour routine and we're sure to have a great time!
This story hour is most appropriate for children ages 3-5.
This is a 30-60 minute program* for 3-5 year-olds featuring: stories, read or told, songs, finger plays, poems, rhymes, an art activity or craft and a snack. Older or younger siblings are okay to bring if necessary. This is a DROP-IN PROGRAM and will be held in the Children's Program Room.
