Event Description

The Betty Beeby and Walter Midener Exhibit is a combination of two renowned artists: Beeby a two dimensional artist, Midener a sculptor. Their works compliment each other in this exhibit of samples from their lifetime works.

Betty Beeby, of Eastport, was a former staff artist for Time/Live Magazine, author of best selling book, Breath Escaping Envelopes, Film artist for CBS Television / Captain Kangaroo, creator of the mural in the Mackinac City Bridge Visitors Center, illustrator of many books and recipient of many awards. Her work may be found in numerous collections including the Mazza Museum of original art for children's books.

Walter Midener, deceased husband of Peggy Midener, East Jordan, received a Doctor of Fine Arts from the Center for Creative Studies College of Art and Design where he taught and was instrumental in most of their programs. He was an artist, educator, and patriot who was forced to flee from Nazi tyranny. Midener devoted his life to the quest for beauty and truth. His sculptures are found in major collections in the U.S. including The Whitney Museum and the Detroit Institute of Art.

Exhibit runs Oct. 4-Nov. 6.

East Jordan is on M-66 between US-131 and US-31.
