Event Description

Live! @ the Library series presents local author, Richard Fidler, discussing his new book Who We Were, What We Did: Fresh Perspectives on Grand Traverse History.

A great follow-up to his Glimpses of Grand Traverse Past, a completely fresh and fascinating look at the history of the area. Fidler's 31 years as a 9th grade biology teacher taught him the virtues of brevity and liveliness in communicating his interests with others. He is especially interested in historical features that have not been closely examined: labor issues, the status of women, crime and justice, racial conflict and environmental issues.

Author Doug Stanton says, "Believe me, you've never read history like this. When you're done [and the writing is engaging and graceful] you have seen the past and will understand the future with new eyes."

The event is free.
