A unique art exhibit features "Petoskey Stone Paintings," by Renn Cheadle.
The idea of painting the Petoskey stone pattern was inspired by Cheadle's vacation to his roots in Leelanau County, from New York City. Cheadle has since returned home and opened New Mission Gallery in Suttons Bay.
The exhibit is comprised of Cheadle's early studies and initial series of Petoskey Stone paintings, as well as a new series of his most recent Petoskey stone interpretations painted this summer.
Renn received a BFA from The Savannah College of Art & Design in 1999. He continued his studies at the School of Visual Arts and New York Academy of Art in New York City. Most recently his paintings have been featured in the LCCC Art Leelanau Exhibit at the Old Art Building in Leland and the All-Media Juried Exhibition at the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts in Frankfort.
