Artists Cece Chatfield and Lee Cheadle will be holding an art exhibit called “For the Trees” to benefit The Archangel Ancient Tree Archive. There will be many, many paintings of trees with a percentage of sales to benefit the Champion Tree project.
The opening reception at the Old Art Building in Leland on Friday, May 17 from 5 to 9 pm and is open to the public. The exhibit continues Saturday, May 18 from 11 am to 7 pm.
After 15 years of studying & practicing color therapy, and then volunteering for The Ancient Tree Archive, Lee Cheadle has been painting trees, nonstop, for the last two years.
Cece Chatfield is a well-known Leelanau County artist who has been painting & showing her work for 25 years. Her paintings are also a reflection of her love for trees.
ATTA is a Michigan based non-profit organization working on a global mission. They collect, propagate, and archive Ancient Champion trees from around the globe. Some of the local champion trees that have been archived include the Acme Black Willow & the Leland Cottonwood.
