Friends @ the Carnegie will host Michigan author Loreen Niewenhuis on Monday, July 22, at 7:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Building located at 451 E. Mitchell St. in Petoskey. This program is about one woman’s trek, in 2012, along the shorelines of all five Great Lakes and her newest book, A 1,000-Mile Great Lakes Walk. In this presentation – in words, photos and videos, with sensitivity and humor --- she will explore the geology, hydrology and natural history of the largest system of freshwater lakes in the world. Niewenhuis’ latest book was recently awarded the Great Lakes Great Reads designation by the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association. Books will be available to purchase and she will be signing books after the event. This program is open to the public and admission is free. It is sponsored by the Petoskey District Library and Friends of the Library. For more information, call the Library at 231-758-3100.
