Event Description

Approximately 10,000 years ago, glaciers began carving cavernous basins into the landmass that we inhabit today. The Great Lakes, located in the Midwestern region of the United States, are one reminder of what these massive glaciers used to be. Lake Michigan, alone, contains roughly 1.3 trillion gallons of water, and is home to countless numbers of plants and animals. On display in the Atrium Gallery, Morningstar’s series of paper paintings illustrates the ecological system that Lake Michigan has been nourishing since it was first created. You will travel to all depths of our great lake, and be introduced to its original inhabitants, both past and present. Additionally, this series will shed light on the non-native species that are invading these waters, and threaten the environmental balance that Lake Michigan once knew.
