The quilt show, "Quilts By the Bay," is an NQA judged event.
Vendors on site, 50+ item raffle, boutique, and lunch available.
Many door prizes and freebies available as you stroll through at least 150 quilts made by members over the past two years. All facilities are wheelchair and scooter accessible.
This year's Quilt Show features something fairly rare: two Dear Jane Quilts. The term "Dear Jane" refers to the "Jane Stickle Quilt," a textile treasure made during the U.S. Civil War. There are over 5,600 pieces in this pattern, requiring literally years and years to construct. It's the Mt. Everest of challenges in the world of quilting. Two guild members have completed a Dear Jane. One was 9 years in the making and the other required 7 years. The quilt pictured above is as true a reproduction of the original as can be managed with 21st-century fabrics.
Fri. 9am-6m; Sat. 9am-4pm.
$6 Entry fee.
Petoskey, on Little Traverse Bay, is about 60 miles north of Traverse City on US-31.
