Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College hosts the Chinese ceramists and painter Wan Liya from Qingdao, China for two programs on the Contemporary Art in China.
These presentations are part of Windows on the World events at Northwestern Michigan College taking place from March 15–22, 2013.
There is a brown bag luncheon presentation at noon on the Mar. 19, in the Janis Community room and a repeat presentation at 7pm at the same location.
Wan Liya exhibited his work in Breaking the Mold: Contemporary Chinese and Japanese Ceramic Sculpture at the Dennos and offered a two week residency in the NMC Art Department in 2009.
Wan Liya is represented internationally by galleries in New York City and the Netherlands. He has received numerous awards and commissions both in China and internationally for his work, including a second place prize at the Gyeonggi International CeraMIX Biennale in Icheon, South Korea in 2011.
His paintings were exhibited at Art Miami in 2012; he will be participating in the International Contemporary Art Expo in New York City following his presentations here.
The Dennos has both ceramic work and paintings by Wan Liya in its permanent collection.
The presentations are free of charge with museum admission. Museum admission is $6 adults, $4 children and free to museum members.
