The Manna Food Project has partnered with the Michigan State University Extension, Goodwill Industries International and Community Food Bank of Southwestern Michigan to create the class series, "Cooking Matters," a 7-week course focusing on culinary and nutrition education.
Weekly sessions focus on not only cooking, but also how to shop efficiently on a budget, and the importance of nutrition in the foods prepared. Recipes include products commonly available on local pantry shelves.
The goal is to educate participants on how to skillfully select nutritious and budget friendly ingredients and then use those ingredients in the preparation of healthy meals for the entire family.
The class is open to anyone receiving Manna services. Those interested in participating may contact Katlyn Cosens at The Manna Food Project, 231.347.8852 or katlyn@mannafoodproject.org. Participants receive a cookbook and certificate upon completion.
"Cooking Matters" is a free educational series held Mondays at 9:30-11:30am, February 11-March 25.
Harbor Springs is just off Historic M-119, across the Bay from Petoskey.
