McLean & Eakin Booksellers welcomes children’s author Carrie Pearson, signing her latest book for young children, titled A Warm Winter Tail.
Pearson’s book compares the adaptations animals and humans make to survive the cold, with baby animals asking,"how do humans keep warm in winter?" Illustrator Christina Wald has drawn speech bubbles for the baby animal’s questions with imaginings of how humans would look with animal adaptations. In simple rhyming answers, the "grown-up" animals answer all the questions.
Included is a section "For Creative Minds" with further explanations about adaptions as well as two pages full of activities. On the publisher’s website are more activity suggestions with interactive quizzes for teachers to use in their classrooms.
Pearson was a former elementary school teacher and is an active member of The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Her nonfiction work has appeared in Michigan History Magazine. Currently, she is working on several picture book manuscripts as well as an historical novel for middle grade readers. Pearson is originally from Hillsdale, Michigan and now lives in Marquette.
This is a free in-store event. No reservations are required.
Petoskey, on Little Traverse Bay, is about 60 miles north of Traverse City on US-31.
