Event Description

Class led by biologist Heather Hettinger and restaurant owner Joe Muer.

Learn about the Betsie River’s unique habitat with a local biologist and return to the Oliver Art Center’s ceramics studio to form (day 1) and glaze (day 2) ceramic fish platters. Students will then work with Joe Muer to cook a fish dinner with family (day 3). Hands-on with fun learning and a delicious final day!

Ages 8-12 and families are welcome.

August 15, 10am-4pm: Learn about Betsie River and make fish-shaped platters out of ceramics.

August 22, 10am-noon: Paint your platter with glazes however you want!

August 29, Noon-2pm: Watch, learn and enjoy cooking a salmon lunch with seafood chef Joe Muer.

$100 member / $120 non-member per parent-child pair for all three days.

Frankfort is about 50 minutes southwest of Traverse City, U.S.-31 to M-115 West.
