The Elk Rapids Players stage the musical, A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol.
It’s Christmas time in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota and once again, Gunner Johnson, owner of a small local bar is not quite into the celebration. On the heels of a Christmas Eve argument, Gunner rides his snowmobile across the lake, crashes through the ice, ends up in a coma and is visited by the three ghosts of Christmas. The classic tale of Charles Dickens meets Fargo.
Join Gunner and Clara Johnson, Kanute Gunderson, Bernice Lundstrom and special guest star Sven Jorgenson as they weave their stories between 16 hilarious and touching songs written by Phil Olsen and Paul Olsen, directed by Roxanne Lutey, and you have the light-hearted musical, A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol.
Performance Schedule: Nov. 21-23, 30, Dec. 5-7, at 7:30pm; Dec. 1 Matinee at 3pm. Doors open one hour before curtain.
A cash bar serves local beer and wine before, during intermission and shortly after each performance.
$18 Tickets, available at The Corner Druggist, The Nature Connection and the Village Market in Elk Rapids. Credit card purchase may be made by calling 231.264.6330. Tickets also available at the door, one hour prior to curtain time.
Proceeds from this production support HERTHA, the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall Association; it is underwritten by CDM Mobile Shredding and Alden State Bank.
