We found a small list of "double-duty" Northern businesses that seemed pretty hilarious. (my personal favorite is the maternity/tobacco store... yikes!)
There's gotta be a bunch more out there... care to share one from your town?
Our favorite is Whipple's Restaurant in Moorestown. It was recommended by a camp owner as the best place to have breakfast in the area. He gave us directions to Moorestown and that the restaurant was just across the street from the airport. The airport turned out to be a grassy strip with a wind sock. The only thing across the street was a hardware store. After traveling up and down the road several times we decided to stop at Whipple's Hardware slash gas station for directions. As the woman at the counter started to direct me down the road, I interupted to explain that we had already traveled down the road several times. "No, no, no Honey, down at the end of the hardware aisle!" Sure enough, right at the end of the oil and anti-freeze was a grouping of a half dozen tables and a counter in front of the kitchen! And yes, the food was fantastic! We had a huge breakfast with thick home made toast and the freshest ingredients. We eat there every time we visit our cabin down the road. A hardware restaurant combination; who would have thought? It's the only place I know of that I can buy a pair of snow boots and have a piece of home made pie at the same time!!!
