Andrea I don't know if you knew Adam has recently be nominated as the Residential Green Building Advocate (RGBA) for the State of Michigan by the USGBC and he is a very dinamic speaker and one of the most knowledgeable builder in the state on the LEED for Homes program he would be a great speaker to have speak to you organizations. I also Chair the LEED for Homes committee for the West Michigan Chapter of the USGBC and would like to offer my help to your organizations in anyway I can.

Adam, the 5-county region includes Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties. Yes, we Realtors have been the weak link. We're hoping to change that. The Traverse Area Association of Realtors, in collaboration with the local Home Builders' Association, just hosted a Green Solutions 4 EXPO with workshops, 2 classes of which were designed to educate Realtors and appraisers and lenders. Energy efficiency is a huge selling point. Every buyer, whether they care about the environment or not, is interested in reducing energy costs. An energy-efficient home definitely has a leg up on the competition in this market (and economy).

Welcome Andrea! Good to see that realtors are being educated in green. Energy efficiency is such a great selling point! What 5 county area do you speak of?

Andrea, I marketed my business to the developer there last year sometime. Still would like to help anyone looking to build a green home in there with their designs.

Thanks, Eric! We've had good sales at Cedar Valley Ridge, having sold 4 lots this past year, which is 20% of our inventory. Overall, vacant land sales in the 5-county region have been less than 10%. It just goes to show that today's consumers are eco-savvy and seeking earth-friendly products, services, and neighborhoods!
