Rainbow of Dreams

Rainbows have always left a lasting impression on people; partly because they appear either in the midst of a rainstorm or immediately after. Children like them because of the pot-o-gold reference. Adults remember the pot-o-gold stories and perhaps create analogies between rains… Continue

Hi Donna,
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to write and tell you how much your kind words have meant to me about the book and the column. I have followed your comments and a bit of your story in the community and I know that we are kindred spirits in how we feel about Northern Michigan and what it means in our lives. That makes your kind words all the more meaningful.

Hope all's well with you and you have plans to get Up North. The snow has been incredible but it has gotten warm this week and they are predicting rain!! Lots of festivals and races coming up that need snow so do any kind of dance you know, will you? Every little bit helps!

Thanks again,
Deb

Thanks Donna, but what I really deserve credit for is putting together a team of editors who are dynamite as individuals and as collaborators. We've got a great crew--not just the editors, but companywide--am proud to work with them. In our City Regional Magazine Association, our team has won more general excellence awards in the past 6 years than any other publication in our category--and we have what's probably the smallest market of the bunch. Sorry, am bragging about the posse. Thanks for the compliments and, again, thanks for the rainbow essay. Am still likin the last line.

Its a balancing act. I feel so good getting back home so I have to understand that leaving would not be enjoyable. But then again, commuting pays the bills and allows me an opportunity to enjoy the north. Adgenda for this weekend: Cross Country skiing, snow shoing or downhill skiing at Boyne Mountain. I haven''t decided yet.

Bought my property in 2007. Started construction on the log home in 1998. Complete construction in 1999 and thenbegan living there most of the time since 2002. I spend most weekends in Charlevoix which I truely feel is home. My commute to Detroit every week is tempereed by books on tape. Most recently I listened to Loving Frank and Einstein. Einstein was 18 CD's. Very long but very interesting.

My home is now in Charlevoix but I had to commute down to bloomfield hills each week for work. When I cross the Zilwaukee bridge going north I feel better. When I pull into my driveway, smell the fresh air and see bright stars, then I am in heaven.
