Brew-a lovely new lunch destination

Perhaps one of the biggest perks about working on Front Street in Traverse City, and i'm sure my colleagues would attest, is being within walking distance of so many great lunch spots. Pangea's across the street makes a mean pizza, espresso bay on the corner is perfect for an afternoon pick me up ( or a early morning wake me up for that matter!) and Grand Traverse Pie Co. down the street is my one stop shop for a caesar salad.Today though, my fellow intern and I ventured left out of the…See More

Small World

Walking through the lobby of my dorm last night I hear a group of people (around 5 or 6) sitting on the couches. There conversation goes something like this..."No, I'm from Ohio but I vacation there.""Really?! I hear it won most beautiful place in America. My mom just planned a weekend trip up there this October." "Yeah my favorite hike is called Pyramid Point, you should try it. Honestly you feel like you are on top of the world. It's beautiful and surrounded by sand dunes..." At this point I…See More

Up North-far North!

Summer time Up North is all about warm weather, days at the beach and family cook outs. But-as most of us know-we're not always good about making time for those seasonal pleasures. Sometimes the warm-days are spent inside in the office, days at the beach can be interrupted with unexpected trips to the grocery store and getting the entire family together for a meal is like solving a puzzle.  My family owns a cabin on Lake Matinentda in the tiny town of Blind River about 80 miles east of Sault…See More

Sleeping Bear Dunes- National Champ! As it Should be!

Posted on August 19, 2011 at 9:42am 2 Comments

Saturday morning, 8:00 am at the coffeehouse. My fellow barista and I broke the normal routine. We turned down the radio, changed the channel from weather to Good Morning America and kept our fingers crossed. I wanted Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to win Most Beautiful Place in America! I wanted the entire country to see how beautiful of an area I live in.

Standing behind the counter, one hand on a milk pitcher, the other reaching for the bottle of whip cream and my eyes… Continue
