Hidden from view is the trailhead behind the old YMCA. Cross the field following the river and it will soon appear. While following the path there are almost continuous views of the Boardman river, along with a couple of creek crossings with woods and meadows. Because this is a flat terrain it quite easy to walk, plus the Fox Den Trail, if you follow it to the right, has a long boardwalk. In my quest to bring more of you who live in Grand Traverse County and surrounding counties downtown, two Labor Day’s ago the Traverse City Labor Day Bridge(s) Walk began. As I run out of adjectives to describe our myriad of trails all around us in the Traverse City area, I continue to love this little trail behind Grand Traverse Crossings off of Airport Road near Division St. Miller Creek trailhead and parking are found behind Aldi’s (which is where I prefer to begin) and also in-between the Bam Bookstore and Ulta. Explore little by little and each time you can find something new to explore.

Those of you with families could try this trail as it meanders through the woods and then down steps along a trail that brings the river into focus. If you hike far enough you could climb back up on the over 200 stairs provided or you could turn around and return via much fewer stairs that you originally came down.
