As we build the Unsalted Sailing brand and website, we thought it made sense to discuss the vision behind this idea in a bit more detail. It’s no secret that people love escaping to the Caribbean for their sailing adventures.  And we don’t blame them, we love doing the same.  In fact we’ve already got a cat booked for November out of the BVIs and we can’t wait. However, sailing the Great Lakes, and especially sailing Lake Michigan out of our homeport of Traverse City, is as picturesque and…See More

What is Flotilla Sailing?

Flotilla Sailing offers a safe and fun way for people to get to known a new cruising area. A lead boat guides the fleet to the best anchorages and harbor towns. This “follow-the-leader” style of sailing makes for a very relaxing vacation knowing that your flotilla neighbors are nearby. There are several planned events along the way and you’ll also enjoy the comradery with fellow sailors. You’ll also have ample time to branch off and explore the towns and islands on your own.
