Hi Maria, I have a 6 year old in 1st grade at Mill Creek (Elk Rapids school district but in Williamsburg) We absolutely love this school system. They have a preschool program too. Our pediatrician is at Kids Creek and they are wonderful. All of the doctors are great. They are on the west side of TC (231.935.0555). When it comes to cars up here, if you live in an area that is plowed pretty good, a mini van should be just fine. I don't have 4 or all wheel drive and I have never had a problem.

I live in town so all my advice may not apply if you will not be in town. I drive a minivan & do fine. We use Kids Creek pediatricians & have been very pleased. My daughter attended Central Day Care & now attends the public Montessori school at Glenn Loomis. Good Luck

Hi Maria, You are sooo blessed as you have two little ones to help you celebrate winter! You'll find yourself wearing better hats and better footwear and staying warmer and loving it! I sometimes look like an eskimo when I go out but I am happy and warm! TC also has two ski hills right in town to enjoy!

Hi Maria,
I moved here from the Royal Oak area over 13 years ago with a little one in tow who is now in high school. So many wonderful things to share with your little ones that it is hard to pick! But I can highlight that the bike trails are amazing. If you don't have a bike be sure to get one with a baby seat. And your daughter will soon be able to follow or you can always find one of those cart type things to pull them behind. At a very young age I would ake my daughter kayaking with me on the Crystal River in glen Arbor. It is a shallow sandy river and we would often stop along the way to picnic or play. And of course the dunes and the many beaches. Elk Rapids had one of the best kid friendly beaches around with a fun river that gently spills into the bay and shade when you need it and kid swings and climbing stuff. Skiing? Well... most everyone I know has started their kids in one of the ski schools and my daughter started at 4 at The Homestead which is terrific.
