Well, usually I dont wait to the last minute, but events caught me off guard. I cant seem to find any accomodations for June 14th after I promised Bel Lago that I would again volunteer to help pour and set uop for the Leland wine festival.
Even TC seems booked up. I would rather not stay way down in Frankfort, but closer in case I have a glass or 2 of wine.
Does anyone have a suggestion or let me camp out (sleep in back of my Suburban on an air mattress) for the one night? No…Continue
What? I find myself planning my Morel hunting trip and its only March. Getting the "fever" so soon, I will be like a caged lion by end of April! I expect a banner year, given the moisture we have been blessed(?) with this winter. For me, its about being outside in the woods walking in the quiet canopy yet to be fully unfolded. Love it. Morning walk, back to open tailgate of SUV and enjoying a gourment lunch, then back out for a couple more hours.
Help me shake up 2014 ! Every year for the past 5, I have traveled up north from my little hometown of Niles, MI. during spring , summer, and fall for long weekend or week's vacations.
I am looking for ideas! Early May, I usually stay in Petosky and Morel hunt not far away (secret spot).
During end of June, I help out Bel Lago setting up for TC Art & Wine fest and enjoy downtown TC.
As colors change, I either stay in Frankfort at Harbor Lights condo and watch films…Continue
A real Foodie, I usually stay in Traverse, Petosky, or Leland. However, a group of friends and I (downstate) are going to Island and mackinaw City. I haven't been there in 20 yrs.
We like fine red wine, microbrews, take some fresh whitefish home on ice (and eat some there), and go to some music events.
All I have down, is Pink Pony on Island, and my friend want to see Lumberjack show....which may be lame? June 27-July3. Have any suggestions on dining and upscale bargin fun?
