News that Michael Moore is in Bellaire doesn’t usually elicit a whole lot more attention from locals than the beer du jour at Short’s Brewing Co. on North Bridge Street (fyi: dark cherry porter last Saturday). Jeff Smith Inspiring Inaugural at the State Theatre, Traverse City

The State Theatre in downtown Traverse City projected, for free, a live big-screen feed of President Barack Obama’s inaugural address today, and I was fortunate to be there to take it in. Elizabeth Edwards New Year's Letter to Michael Moore from Traverse City

New Year’s Eve morning, 2008, found me seated three feet from the night sky, ensconced in a red velvet chair. A bare-chested Tony Curtis moved in front of me speaking in a Cary Grant accent.
