My husband snapped this photo of Friends of the Traverse City Film Festival lining up this afternoon to buy tickets for the festival. This year's festival runs from July 18 to August 2. The photo doesn't do the crowd justice. The line of smiling, happy film buffs wound down the block.

New Year’s Eve morning, 2008, found me seated three feet from the night sky, ensconced in a red velvet chair. A bare-chested Tony Curtis moved in front of me speaking in a Cary Grant accent.
