Traverse City Film Festival suing Traverse City Short Film Festival for trademark infringement is a whole lot of stuff and nonsense if not down right bullying. Here's how it works in the the big city where people don't seem to be confused by such trifles:
Los Angeles Film Festival
Los Angeles Arthouse Film Festival
Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival
Los Angeles…

I'd have to say, in general, the Q&A with filmmakers following the movies at Traverse City Film Festival add at least 50% of…

So tell me. Would you take a baby to the opera? Then why take a baby to the movies? Of course, I'm not actually talking about your baby. Your…

"The Trip" is a movie for grown-ups who appreciate stand-up comedy. Have you ever wanted to spend the day with one of your favorite stand-up comedians and have them use you as a sounding board as they work out their bits? Well if so, this movie is a dream come true. I heard the first…

Taking my 5-year-old and 7-yr-old to children's movies at the Traverse City Film Festival is becoming a family tradition. My oldest son especially is truly developing an appreciation for good films and still talks about "Kiriku and the Sorceress" I took him to see last year. He also remembered the family of…

My family popped down to the Traverse City Film Festival Lawn Party "Kids Fest" today and were more than amazed at the scale of the event! There is something for everyone: an entertainment stage, a tiny tots play area, games, food, presentations, special DIY creations, free swag, and even a…

My favorite part of the movie "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" is how everyone is dressed for snow, but Han Solo recklessly dons a jaunty windbreaker. He's way too cool to be cold. …

It is such a pleasure to view films at the Traverse City Film Festival because the audience always brings a receptive attitude. When I was living in Hollywood and working in the film business I usually viewed independent film screenings with a critical… Continue

There is no question that the short shorts exhibited at Thursday night’s presentation of Short Fiction 1 are “just great films”. All selections revolved around the theme of relationships and, as such, even the comedies tended to be more serene in tone compared to many short shorts on the circuit. Three of the 9 short films featured senior citizens and a fourth was a period piece about the allure of mid-century pin-up girls. I… Continue

What a liberating experience it was to enjoy an animated feature with my children that simultaneously respected their innocence and presented them with some naked humanity.Added by Angeline Duran Piotrowski on July 29, 2010 at 10:30pm — 1 Comment
Tiny Furniture did some sweet talkin’ to become a big hit with last night’s Traverse City Film Festival audience. It is a testament to the sophistication of its humor that this movie, about a recent college grad resisting becoming an independent adult, was so enthusiastically received by the TCFF crowd which tends to skew older (average audience member appeared to be age 35+).… Continue

My son Dominik is a Kindergartener in Traverse City and a huge fan of Pokemon. He is starting a Pokemon Club for other young kids like him. The most charming part about this new club is the chain of command in the leadership. Dominik has named himself "President". His little brother David is "Vice President", but Dominik also hands out additional Vice Presidencies to his friends as the mood strikes. There are three Vice Presidents that I'm aware of, so chances are good that if your… Continue
