Good business is a gift. I got that message, literally, when I returned from a vacation last week and found a box on my chair from Amway Global, the Gold Sponsors of our 2009 Ultimate Up North Kitchen Tour, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, October 24.

I’m always game for a little Christmas on a workday, so I tore the box open and found three cute sample bottles of the corporation’s new Legacy of Clean products—the brand Amway Global is promoting with its sponsorship. I’m not the only one who will be treated to these fabulous (I went home and tried them that night) new products. Folks on the Ultimate Up North Kitchen Tour will also be treated to Legacy of Clean samples.

Amway Global’s new brand—launched just a week ago—contains eco-conscious cleaning products (everything from laundry detergents to surface cleaners and dishwashing detergents). Many of its products are recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment program. Even the bottles are made from 25 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, are recyclable, and in some cases even reusable.

All of which, of course, adds up to more than a simple promotional gift. With its new line, this Michigan-based company is strengthening its long record of dedication to our state and its incredible natural resources. I can’t say enough about the message Amway Global’s Legacy of Clean is sending to our kitchen tour. Many of the 25 kitchens on the tour are in homes that are set on some of the most beautiful shorelines on the planet (nope, not exaggerating—if you don’t believe me purchase a ticket and come see for yourself). Pairing this irreplaceable ec-oscape with a simple, tangible everyday way to protect it is a gift to all of us.
