Lindy Bishop likes to paint musicians, singers and songwriters while they're performing.
Every month, she invites an aural artist to Seed Studio/Gallery in Elk Rapids to entertain the visual artists while they capture it on canvass or sketchpad.
She does it on the third Tuesday of the month and calls it Sketch Live Music. This month on the 19th (meaning tonight), it's Sam Naples of Kewadin and friends. Anyone can come and donations for the musicians are appreciated.
Last month I had the privilege of being the model. It was a light, intimate atmosphere with wine, cheese and strawberries and I made some new friends.
In addition to Sketch Live Music, Bishop also hosts concerts at the studio (admission charged) and outdoors (free) on Sunday evenings during the summer.
Seed is more window-centric than many galleries and overlooks Elk Rapids Harbor. It matches Bishop's optimistic and free style of painting.
Bishop features local and Chicago artists. Recently, her son Duke had his first showing there of his superhero/sci-fi sketches and paintings.
