In the midst of winter in Northern Michigan when the beaches are only inhabited by the ducks and the landscape is blanketed with lots of snow there is a certain beauty that captivates the hearts of people that appreciate a season known for cold and short days. The center has a public exhibit and they offer shipboard programs. There is much to learn here about the Great Lakes ecosystem at the Inland Seas Education Center too.
Considering that Suttons Bay is rather small there’s quite a bit of places to shop. Bahles which has been around since 1876 is the ultimate place to shop for classic clothing. Here you can find everything from authentic Norwegian sweaters to Vintage Baseball tee shirts. For challenging games, puzzles, and toys that exercise the mind head to Brain Storm. Other unique stores are The Business Helper for art supplies, office supplies, party supplies, and interesting odds and ends as well as Suttons Bay Trading Company for dip mixes, dried produce, flavored powders, and spices. 45th Street Parallel’s Candy World will make you break your diet with their assortment of top notch hand made truffles and candies from around the world.
The Bay Theater with it’s fine architecture is a terrific place to watch classic and independent films. This is one place you won’t want to miss when the weather outside is frightful and you want some entertainment. For culinary sensation a dinner shouldn’t be missed while in Suttons Bay.
